August 30 Our Bodies, OurselvesA month or two ago our friends were over with their daughter Tia who is a few months younger than Wilder. That evening Wilder was wearing a tee shirt and no pants (his signature outfit for those who haven’t noticed). He was straddling his broom, zooming back and forth across the living room making flying sound effects. After sitting and watching this pants-less performance for some time, Tia turned to her mom and stated in a clear, matter of fact voice, “Momma, I don’t like that thing coming out of his bottom.” It was Classic Tia (and typical of Wilder as well) and one of those stories that really sums up a lot about a person in a neat, succinct package. Tonight we had another such moment over pb&j and banana slices... Wilder was scratching his ear and had this Classic Wilder exchange with his left index finger: “Ouch! I’m outta here. That finger need to go take a time out.” Wilder moved over to a different chair at this point and looked sternly at his finger. “Why you not do that? You be gentle! You going to be gentle? Yeah? Okay…” He scratched his ear again briefly then looked at his finger again, nodding, “Oh, that’s nice. Thanks.” August 24 summer time rollsWell, I was going to write this long post about Wilder being back in day care and all of our other recent adventures but now that I'm sitting here, I realize all I really want to do is get back out in the sunshine. So, to the left you will find a bunch of new photo albums with pictures of our summer exploits and below are some video shots of Wilder's 2-wheeled accomplishments...

Wilder mountain biking. He got fancy and tried to do a bunny hop half way down the hill. He is more bruises than shins at this point... so much so that his new day care provider asked if he might not be annemic. I told her I didn't think he was so much low iron as high impact:

Hope you all are having as kick ass a summer as we are. xoxoxoxo August 02 Expecto Patronum!We have an interview this evening with a potential new day care. Just in time. I think Wilder misses having a peer group and I miss being able to use the toilet unaccompanied. Also, I am tired of having spells cast at me every time its time to change a diaper or take a nap. I’m starting to have Mommy Dearest fantasies about making him settle down and respect my authority. Definitely time for some hired help. Wish us luck. |
